Romina walked around the mall getting the things Elias asked her to get, she got everything and went to the library to borrow some books.
“I should head back,” she muttered and fix her seatbelt she drove away but didn’t drive long before getting stuck in traffic.
“I’m going to be late,” she complained staring at the bright red light. Her mind drifted to Iris so she picked the remote and pressed the listening button.
She heard her conversation with the twins. ‘Those two are funny,’ Romina thought. “Diana!! Diana!!” She heard numerous voices yelling trying to retrieve her.
“You wîtch what have you done?” Draco yelled. “Diana listen to my voice,” she heard a lady (Nicole) say.
“What have you done to my sister? Why isn’t she waking up?” Draco asked with a shaking voice and Romina guessed he was crying or on the verge of tears.
“The hospital! We should take her to the hospital!” Nicole suggested and carried her in her arms, she rushed out of the house with Draco behind her.
“What are you going to do?” Nora asked Iris who was fidgeting with her finger. “I didn’t touch her, she is obviously pretending. Didn’t you see her shaking eyelids?” She asked trying to justify her actions.
“Why can’t you stay out of trouble?” Nora asked and shook her head in pity before leaving the house too. “What if it’s serious? Will I be sent to jail?” She thought and fear engulfed her.
“Anything but a prison,” she mumbled. “Elias is going to be mad when he hears this,” Romina said and put the device on the recording mode.
The traffic cleared and she drove to Iris’s street, she knew the first instinct in such a situation is the nearest hospital.
She stopped in front of the hospital and put on a nose mask, thankfully she always kept one in her bag. “What am I going to say when I meet them?” She asked herself as she stepped out of the car.
“Good afternoon Miss,” she greeted the nurse she bump into. “Afternoon,” the nurse replied.
“A girl was rushed here she is around twelve,” she described. “Do you have a name?” The nurse asked. “Yes, Diana…., Diana Del Vera,” she replied.
“Hey,” the nurse stopped another nurse holding a chat. “Yes,” nurse two responded.
“Is there any twelve-year-old girl by the name Diana Del Vera?” Nurse one asked. “I’ll check,” she said and went through the chat in her hand.
“Yes, but she is currently getting a CAT scan,” she replied. “Her ward is 558,” she added. “Thank you,” Romina appreciated.
“How are you related to her?” Nurse one asked. “I’m a friend,” she answered and left.
Romina stopped in front of the ward, she saw a little boy and a lady who she assumed to be the one that brought the girl.
She sighed and walked to the end of the hall, she was going to wait for Diana to be brought back so that she can check her condition.
She waited only for a few minutes when she was taken to her room on a stretcher, her eyes were closed to Romina assumed she was unconscious.
“What did Iris hit her with?” She asked no one as she watched the nurses leave. “How am I going to get in?” She wondered.
Nicole left the room shortly after the nurses left, she rushed to the door immediately but what she heard made her pause.
“The doctor said you are sick,” Draco stated. “I’m not sick they probably got my result mixed up,” Diana replied.
“But you lost consciousness and I was worried,” he said looking sad, the fear of losing her sister was still there. “I felt dizzy when Iris touched me but I am seriously fine now,” She assured.
“You were complaining I stomach ache this morning, I’m scared Diana,” he said worriedly. “Don’t be a scary cat, I’m fine I was just hungry,” she said and jumped on the floor.
“See, I’m perfectly fine,” she assured but her face looked pale, it was obvious she was not healthy. “We should run away,” she blurted, and Romina gasped but quickly covered her mouth so they would not notice her presence.
“Why? Where are we going to go?” Draco asked with a worried expression. “We are going to lay low in an orphanage until Iris stops looking for us,” she stated.
“Orphanage?” He asked. “Aren’t we orphans?” Diana asked. “I don’t like this Diana,” Draco said.
“Don’t you want Iris to pay for what she did to our brother?” Diana asked. “We have no evidence to prove our assumptions,” he said.
“Why do you sound like Elias? Have you been brainwashed by that witch?” She asked and Romina could not help but chuckle at her smartness.
“Don’t come with me, I’m going to get caught if you come with me,” she said and Romina walked in. “Unsee me!” Diana yelled and jumped on the bed.
She shut her eyes and Romina could not help but laugh. “Who are you?” Draco asked. “Your savior,” she answered.
“That is not a name,” Diana said sitting up. “I thought you are unconscious,” Romina said with a smile.
“Pretend you are dreaming,” Diana replied. “You guys are funny and interesting, I wonder why Iris doesn’t get along with you,” she said walking further into the room.
“You know Iris?” They asked in unison. “Yes, she is my friend,” she replied. “Woman! You enemy or ally?” Diana asked.
“It’s Romina and your answer depends on your reason for disliking Iris,” she said and folded her arm under her bbs. “How can we trust you? We can’t see your face,” Draco said.
Romina didn’t argue with them but simply removed her nose mask. “Why is a beautiful lady like you befriending Iris? Did she cast a spell on you?” Diana asked.
“No,” She replied with an awkward smile, those two were loud mouths. “Why should we trust you?” Draco asked.
“Because I can sabotage your plans,” she replied. They stared at each other and tell “NO!!”
“You?” Romina pointed at Draco. “I thought you didn’t agree to it,” she added. “I want to leave too but I’m worried about my sister’s health,” he said with a sad and concerned expression.
“I get it, you guys gonna tell me why you hate Iris or you stay here,” she said and they stared at each other before nodding their heads in agreement.
Nicole was chatting with the doctor in the corridor when Iris rushed in. “Where is that lying brat?” She asked as she got close enough to Nicole.
“Calm down Miss,” Nicole said. “Don’t tell me to calm down when that spoilt brat is fooling everyone. “She is fooling no one,” Nicole snapped.
“How sure are you? Or are you with them on this?” She asked. “Diana is sick she is not faking it,” Nicole retorted.
“She could have bribed the doctor for all we know,” she spat. “I won’t take such insults from you,” The doctor retorted.
“You are the doctor,” she said sarcastically. “Your sister is sick and she needs surgery,” The doctor blurted.
“S….. Surgery? Why does she need surgery?” She asked in a calm tone, she was now nervous about the worst. That spoilt brat could use that against her and she could end up in jail for child abvse.
“She has an appendix, we need to cut her open immediately but she has a fever so we have to wait to avoid complications,” he explained.
‘Oh, God!’ She exclaimed mentally. “I will be in my office if you have further questions,” the doctor said.
“Thank you,” Nicole appreciated with a smile and he nodded before leaving. “Where is she?” Iris asked. “You have to keep your voice down in her room, she needs a lot of rest,” Nicole informed.
“Take me to the damn room teacher,” she snapped and Nicole led the way. “Draco is…” Nicole paused when she met an empty room.
“Where are they?” Iris asked. “I don’t know, I left them here before going to the doctor,” Nicole said with trembling lips.
“And?” Nicole urges her to continue her explanation. “They could be in the bathroom,” she said and rushed to check the bathroom, but it was empty.
“They are not here,” she said walking back into the room. “They didn’t disappear into thin air they are somewhere in this hospital,” Iris said and wanted to leave but Nicole stopped her.
“Wait,” Nicole said and she turned around. “Do you have a better plan than to look for them?” Iris asked angrily.
“There is a note here,” she said and Iris rushed to pick it up, it says:
~the twins are safe I will return them by night~
~ fall~
It had a little signature at the bottom it was signed Anonymous.
“Someone took them,” Nicole muttered. “No, they left,” Iris replied.
“Left? Don’t you see the note? We have to look for them. They are in danger, especially Diana she is sick,” Nicole said and her voice shook with each word.
“They are fine!” Iris growled.
